ETERNAL ENERGY/CONSCIOUSNESS/GOD

ABSTRACT

The Eternal metaphysical Energy is neither born, nor does it die at any time, nor having once come to be, will it again cease to be. This truth is unborn, eternal, and super- spiritual energy. It is a ray of consciousness, reflections of the One Light, which comes to involve itself with the realm of nature and is known as consciousness. The word ‘conscious’ derives from the Latin words ‘cum’ and ‘scire’ (knowing).

When we became involved with matter and so identified with it that we began to express through a mental field, a portion of Cosmic Mind, and successive bodies or sheaths; the knowledge sheath, the mental sheath, the magnetic (causal) sheath, the astral (life force) sheath, and the physical body. A body is formed and in due time it disintegrates but the consciousness does not cease to be because it is immortal, as the Light is immortal.
In the original sense, two people who know something together are said to be conscious of it ‘to one another’.
Human beings, having adopted, developed and applied various intellectual faculties made great progress in unfolding some of the mysteries of this universe; still there is lot more to be done before he/she can touch the concepts of higher consciousness. The transmigration of inferential knowledge and spiritual intellect into higher consciousness is an evolutionary phenomenon. It is necessary for the successful achievement of consciousness that an exalted human personality should exist.

                                               -----------------------------------------------------

As
an advanced living entity, humans are capable of past, present and future thought. From early thoughts of only survival, the mind has developed over centuries to think of feelings and emotions, religion and philosophy of existence.  Every new generation of humanity evolves in how to improve the capabilities to have much more improved states of performance in all the different aspects of creativity, artistic, scientific and in technology. We have capabilities to store and utilize most of the information at enormously greater potential than most humans ever use. All forms of animal life, starting from the simplest organism to the most complex, have developed some sense of consciousness.

For all practical purposes, a person supplicates to God as an external entity. We pray each day, focusing on an external Higher Power outside of ourselves. Yet, we are also repeatedly reminded that God is within us and that is why we must follow the saying “Know thyself.” To do this, a person must assimilate and utilize information, both externally and internally, to develop a higher level of consciousness.

Consciousness is a gift bestowed on humans through God. Some may attempt to separate the mind from the body, the soul from the mind. But, by characterizing the mind, body and soul as one functional unit eliminates much of the confusion of which part is responsible for the higher intellect. To “know thyself” is to understand that the sensory perceptions trigger emotional responses, which are shaped in part by the culture and generation we live in. Each person in his/her own generation is capable of achieving higher consciousness. The mind has enormous capacity to learn, invent, imagine, and speculate. Because it is only the innocent mind that has experienced vastly and yet is free of knowledge. The mind reacts to various external stimuli and is always evaluating, judging, comparing or condemning.

Our consciousness is our whole existence. Man keeps wondering if there is anything hereafter, anything beyond time, beyond thought and if there is anything eternal? That question seems to be the content of the consciousness of every human being in whatever part of the world he lives. A conscious person should be able not only to account for the qualities of inner life available to beings more primitive than us, but also to extrapolate to higher forms of awareness not yet experienced by human beings. The content of higher consciousness is the common ground of all humanity. A person seeking higher consciousness must possess a discriminative sense to differentiate between inferential knowledge and spiritual intellect. That is where a person can achieve capability of not only ‘observing’, but becoming the observation. Then the intellect becomes part of the mind, which knows the moral nature as it feels. That kind of intellect, when it surpasses the subconscious state of mind, reaches the realms of higher consciousness.

In the traditional sense we may say that we are "children” of God because God is our source. When we are energy conscious we are as God’s, particularized rays of Light involved with creation.
It is helpful for one on an enlightenment path to contemplate the truth of being, to become increasingly conscious of the fact that the being, the consciousness, is already and will ever be, immortal. It is not in need of being changed, but while it is still deluded and unaware of its real nature it is in need of being awakened. A deluded consciousness, one caught up in material concerns only, needs to learn to look to the source and awaken to its divine nature.

Cẖiṯeh cẖiṯ samāė ṯa hovai rang gẖanā. Harihāʼn cẖancẖal cẖorėh mār ṯa pāvahi sacẖ ḏẖanā. ||12||

When the consciousness is absorbed in the supreme consciousness, great joy and bliss are found. O God! When the fickle thieves are overcome, the true wealth is obtained. ||12|| -----Guru Arjun, Gatha, AGGS, Page 1362-14

Every enlightened person knows this truth, lives from it, and bears witness to it by his or her personal life. A fully illumined individual can live in the world with perfect understanding, conscious of the unbounded ocean of pure consciousness as well as the temporary view point referred to as ego-consciousness. We are like bubbles in the cosmic sea and we can learn to know our divine essence even while functioning in the realm of matter which is nothing more than God’s creative energy.
Learn to acknowledge your own essential nature and train yourself to see it in others. Whenever you meet someone, or think of someone, inwardly acknowledge, "I honor the divinity you are". In this way you will bless yourself by being reminded of the truth and you will bless others by seeing their real spiritual essence.

Become universal in your understanding. See past color, personality characteristics, behavior, cultural origins and all that might separate you from conscious communication with others whom you share your life. See God expressing through all people and all life forms.

Ŧithai gẖaṛī▫ai suraṯ maṯ man buḏẖ.Ŧithai gẖaṛī▫ai surā siḏẖā kī suḏẖ. ||36||

The intuitive consciousness, intellect and understanding of the mind are shaped there. The consciousness of the spiritual warriors and the Holy persons, the beings of spiritual perfection, are shaped there. ||36|| -----Guru Nanak, Japji, AGGS, Page, 8-2

For higher understanding and to demonstrating our spiritual qualities and capacities, one should respond to the following questions and choose to adapt your life to ideal modes of behavior.

1.      What is the purpose of our life? Do we know why we do what we do, and do we perform all actions rightly?
2.      Are we knowledgeable about the reality of God and ourselves?
3.      Are we calm, rational, discerning, cheerful, optimistic, and illusion free?
4.      Are we self-responsible and free from addictions, compulsions, and obsessions?
5.      Do we really care about our spiritual growth? And what are we doing about it?

CONCLUSION:

It is the destiny of every matter-identified consciousness to awaken from the dream of mortality and have awareness restored to omnipresence and omniscience. A dedicated devotee of God can awaken to this realization if persists on his efforts truthfully, earnestly, and honestly. Your committed choice is the most important action: all others will naturally follow, enhancing your life and ensuring fulfillment in God.
